The U.S. natural gas rig count rose by three units to 97 for the week ending Friday (Sept. 13), according to data from Enverus and Baker Hughes Co. (BKR).
The addition of five oil-directed units during the period pushed the combined domestic tally up by eight to 590 rigs. The total count was down by 51 from a year earlier, with gas rigs 24 lower, according to the latest numbers.
Land drilling added six units week/week in the United States, while the Gulf of Mexico added two rigs to finish with 19, versus 17 last year. Four directional rigs were added domestically, alongside three horizontal and one vertical rig.
