If elected, Mexican presidential candidate Claudia Sheinbaum would seek to increase the country’s renewable electricity generation to as much as 50% of the national grid by the conclusion of her term in 2030, industry members familiar with the plans told NGI’s Mexico GPI.

Mexico could have a good year in 2024 despite a degree of uncertainty in Latin America, according to analysts at New York City-headquartered political risk consultancy Eurasia Group.

“Investor confidence has to be reestablished through clear policies and mechanisms that are maintained and upheld over an extended period of time,” Sofía Tamayo Gutiérrez, Institutional Relations & Regulatory Affairs director at Kino Energia told NGI’s Mexico GPI.
