European natural gas prices moved higher on Monday as tensions rose in the Middle East and Ukraine.

The November Title Transfer Facility (TTF) contract finished 3.5% higher on Monday to close above $12/MMBtu. Israel launched another round of air strikes on Monday against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, raising the risk of a broader conflict in the region that could threaten global gas supplies.

Ukrainian officials also warned that Russia could be planning strikes against nuclear power sites in the country and fighting continued in the Kursk region near the Sudzha gas transit point.
