The twin challenges of integrating renewables to the power mix while meeting exploding demand from data centers are causing unease in the electricity sector, according to a new survey by Black & Veatch.
The global engineering, procurement, consulting and construction company’s 2024 Electric Report surveyed more than 700 power sector stakeholders about the state of the industry.
Asked to name their biggest concerns for grid development over the next three to five years, 46% of respondents cited “the generation mix, with more utility-scale renewables and fewer traditional base load units.”
