‘Tectonic’ Changes in U.S. Manufacturing Need Natural Gas Permitting Reform, Execs Say

More needs to be done to facilitate investment in natural gas infrastructure supporting a buildout in U.S. manufacturing, especially in fast growing strategic industries like semiconductors, industry executives said earlier this month.

Executives from the American Gas Association (AGA) and Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) participated in a forum hosted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) to discuss the role of natural gas in the reindustrialization of the United States.

Natural gas has become the Lower 48’s biggest energy source for power and industry over the past 20 years. That has helped the country reduce emissions, lower energy costs and expand renewable electricity generation, according to a CSIS report.
